About the Artist

Sierra Sanchez is an artist creating paintings that chronicle their recently-recovered Japanese and Filipino family heritage from a queer, mixed-race perspective. Flourishing in the intersections of race and gender identity, Sierra's work tells a detailed story about intergenerational traumas, familial bonds & contentions, and lost/loose threads in their family tree through semi-transparent symbolism, utilizing family stories as a master key to their imagery.

Sierra is represented by Skye Gallery in Providence, RI. They are a BFA honors graduate in painting from Rhode Island School of Design, and an alum from Brookhaven Community College in Farmers Branch, TX.
